About Madeira Regional Directorate for Youth

Madeira’s Programa Voluntariado Juvenil gives young people a structured way to contribute to island communities. Approved public bodies and non-profit organisations host activities in social action, the environment, culture, sport and animal welfare. The regional youth directorate manages the programme and applications.

Projects run for one to four months, with activities limited to 30 hours per month. Participants receive monetary compensation, personal-accident insurance and a participation certificate. The youth application platform explains the current deadlines and required documents; applicants under 18 need a signed parent or guardian authorisation.
