About the programme

The Office franco-québécois pour la jeunesse (OFQJ), with France Travail, supports eligible French jobseekers who complete a 2–6 month professional internship in Québec or francophone Canada. Candidates can apply to an OFQJ-listed opportunity or propose a host they found themselves. OFQJ assesses the project and supports the administrative and financing process.

2026 funding framework

The host must pay at least CAD 800 net per month. Subject to France Travail approval, an applicant can retain ARE or receive RFFT; the two cannot be combined. OFQJ provides a one-off mobility payment of €200 for an ARE recipient or €800 for an eligible non-indemnified applicant. If assessed resources remain below €1,100, a mobility grant of up to €600 per month can be awarded for the first three months. None of these amounts should be treated as approved before written confirmation.

Eligibility criteria

  • Age18–35 inclusive when the internship starts in Canada.
  • Nationality and residenceFrench national with a valid French passport, residing in metropolitan or overseas France.
  • Current situationRegistered or in the process of registering with France Travail; being out of work alone is not sufficient.
  • Qualification and sectorAll qualification levels; placements in health and construction are excluded.
  • ImmigrationMust qualify for the IEC International Co-op permit. Holders of an activated or unactivated introduction letter for a Working Holiday, study or other permit are not eligible for this route.

Important to know

The France Travail decision, OFQJ project approval, Stage Coop International permit and host agreement are all required. Confirm the financing plan before travel or other non-refundable spending.
