About German–Greek Youth Encounters — DGJW

DGJW/EGIN supports bilateral encounters jointly organised by one German and one Greek partner. Young people join through the recruiting school, association or youth organisation; individuals do not apply directly for the grant.

The partners build the programme together and funded days must include shared activity. Language mediation or playful language animation can help the groups communicate, but this is not a guaranteed language course or permanent interpreting service.

Eligibility criteria

  • Age and residenceStandard participants are 12–29, live in Germany or Greece and must be able to travel. Nationality itself is not a universal requirement.
  • ProjectA legal organisation in each country must jointly prepare and submit the encounter.
  • GroupA standard project has at least five young participants and reasonably balanced country groups.
  • DurationA standard in-person youth encounter lasts 5–30 programme days.
  • LanguageNo general proficiency threshold is published; the organisers define working languages and support.
  • FundingDGJW/EGIN contributes to eligible programme, travel and communication costs but does not necessarily cover the full cost.

This is not an individual language stay or paid-work programme. Join only through an active partner project whose organisers have confirmed recruitment, dates, travel and costs.
