About Tour de France – Compagnons du Devoir

The Tour de France is a multi-stage vocational pathway for young craftspeople admitted to the Compagnons du Devoir, with mobility in France and potentially abroad. It is not a standalone travel grant: applicants first join the apprenticeship or training route and then complete the placements built into it. The programme is intended to turn international mobility into practical learning, professional exposure or a recognised training experience. Its value depends on clear learning objectives, appropriate supervision and realistic funding, while access may be organised through a school, training body, public service or partner organisation.

Eligibility criteria

  • AudienceYoung craftspeople admitted to the Compagnons du Devoir apprenticeship or training pathway.
  • Age limitNormally under 25 for the relevant learner route; confirm the selected training contract.
  • Nationality or residenceNot determined by a broad nationality list; admission and French training/work rights apply.
  • QualificationTrade-specific entry requirements and an approved apprenticeship or training pathway.
  • Application routeJoin the Compagnons du Devoir pathway first; the mobility is integrated into it.

Important to know

The Tour de France is not a standalone mobility grant. International placements become available through the wider trade-training journey after admission.
