About V.I.E / V.I.A — Paid Professional Assignments Abroad

V.I.E and V.I.A are regulated French international-volunteering statuses, not ordinary jobs or internships. A V.I.E carries out a professional assignment abroad for a French company—or, in eligible cases, a foreign company linked to a French company. A V.I.A serves a French State administration abroad, such as an embassy, consulate, economic service or cultural or cooperation service.

Missions last 6–24 months and provide a fixed allowance plus a location-based component. Travel and protection are covered under programme rules. Treat the allowance as a regulated indemnity, not a conventional salary.

Eligibility criteria

  • You must be over 18 and under 28 when applying; departure must occur no later than your 29th birthday. The routes are open to French and EEA nationals, subject to national-service, civil-rights, criminal-record, health and assignment-specific requirements.

Assignments and selection are managed by Business France and host organisations. Current vacancies never change the Finder match; check the official portal for available assignments and complete conditions.
